Dr. Yan Yeung

 

Dr. Yan Yeung, MD FRCPC

Dr. Yeung grew up in Sudbury, Ontario and attended Laurentian University where he received a Bachelors of Science (Hon) in Biology. He earned a Medical Doctorate (MD) from the Schulich School of Medicine at Western University in London, Ontario. He then completed post-graduate residency training in Internal Medicine and a clinical fellowship in Rheumatology at Western University. During his fellowship, Dr. Yeung fulfilled leadership and educational roles as the Chief Rheumatology Fellow.

Dr. Yeung founded Waterloo Rheumatology in 2018 and expanded its operations in 2020 with space for multiple rheumatologists in group practice. He is active as an Assistant Clinical Professor with McMaster University, providing lectures and clinical preceptorships to Internal Medicine Resident Physicians and Rheumatology Clinical Fellows. Dr. Yeung was accepted into the 2020 cohort of the Canadian Rheumatology Association Leadership Program. Dr. Yeung was awarded the 2022 Early Career Rheumatologist Award by the Ontario Rheumatology Association. He is Vice-President, Adult Rheumatology, for the Ontario Rheumatology Association and also works on the Informatics Committee.

Dr. Yeung's professional interests include immune system disorders with systemic manifestations -- especially those involving the joint. This includes inflammatory arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, also gout), systemic rheumatic diseases (including lupus, myositis, scleroderma), and vasculitis.
